Chinese Herbal Medicine
What is Chinese Herbal Medicine?
Chinese Herbal Medicine is a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been
used in China for thousands of years. It uses natural herbs to restore balance and support the
body’s healing processes. Each formula is carefully blended from roots, leaves, flowers and
minerals to enhance health and treat illness.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, herbal prescriptions are personalised after a
detailed consultation. The goal is to harmonise your body’s energy, known as Qi, and balance
Yin and Yang to promote lasting health and vitality.

How does it work?
The patient's overall health and lifestyle is assessed during a detailed consultation, which
includes using traditional diagnostic methods such a tongue diagnosis and
pulses (if not done virtually).
Following the consultation, an appropriate formula is created. The formula may include
anywhere from 3 to 20 different herbs, which may be adjusted over time as the patient's
condition improves or changes.

The prescription is prepared by an independent, licensed herbal pharmacist, who ensures precise dosage, safety and quality. The herbs are provided as granules to be prepared as a tea.
Sometimes external creams, Gaos and washes may be offered.
How can herbs help?
Chinese Herbal Medicine works by supporting your body’s natural balance and addressing
the root causes of discomfort rather than just relieving symptoms.

How herbs may help:

Boosting immunity and supporting recovery from illness.
Reducing stress, anxiety and fatigue.
MSK issues.
Improving sleep quality.
Supporting digestion and metabolism.
Regulating hormones and menstrual cycles.
Aiding chronic conditions such as headaches, digestive issues or respiratory imbalances.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is safe, natural and is often used alongside other holistic therapies, including acupuncture, dietary guidance and lifestyle support.

and prescribe Chinese herbs under the close supervision of her lecturers/tutors.

prescribed once the patient's case has been thoroughly and anonymously discussed with her tutor.
